Detailed Itinerary

Early Morning – Drive from Kigali to Akagera National Park
Your driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali at around 5:30 a.m. for an early departure to Akagera National Park. The drive takes you through Rwanda’s picturesque countryside, offering beautiful views of farmlands and rolling hills. Upon arrival at the Southern Gate, your guide will handle the entry formalities before starting the exciting game drive.

Morning to Afternoon – Game Drive Adventure
Enjoy a guided game drive across the park’s savannah plains and wooded landscapes. Keep your eyes open for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, antelopes, and hippos. You may also spot predators like lions, leopards, or even the reintroduced black rhinos if luck is on your side.

Akagera is also a paradise for bird lovers, hosting over 500 bird species, including fish eagles, kingfishers, and the striking lilac-breasted roller. Your experienced guide will help you identify both animals and birds along the way.

At midday, you’ll stop at a scenic picnic site or one of the park’s lodges for a packed or buffet lunch, with panoramic views of Lake Ihema and the surrounding wetlands.

Optional Experience:

Afternoon – Return to Kigali
