Itinerary

• Morning: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

  Your adventure begins with an early pickup at 4:00 AM from Kigali International Airport or your hotel in Kigali. First, your driver-guide will brief you about the journey before you drive northwest to Volcanoes National Park. Consequently, you will arrive at the Kinigi park headquarters in time for the 7:00 AM official briefing. Next, park rangers will assign you to a specific gorilla family based on your fitness level. Once the trek starts, you will hike through the lush, bamboo-covered slopes. This trek can take anywhere from one to four hours. When you finally locate the gorillas, you will spend one magical hour watching them feed, play, and rest.

• Afternoon: Iby'Iwacu Cultural Village and Return

  After your thrilling gorilla encounter, you will hike back to the trailhead for lunch. Next, you will visit the nearby Iby'Iwacu Cultural Village, also known as the Gorilla Guardians Village. During this cultural visit, local community members will warmly welcome you with traditional drumming and dancing. Furthermore, you will participate in unique activities like shooting a bow and arrow, tasting local banana beer, and learning about traditional medicine. You will even get a chance to see how a traditional king's palace operates. Finally, after this rich cultural immersion, you will board your vehicle for the scenic drive back to Kigali. Your guide will drop you off at the airport or your hotel by evening, concluding your memorable day trip.
