Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Pickup from Kigali and Transfer to Mgahinga

    Your adventure begins right at the start of your day. Your professional driver-guide will pick you up from Kigali International Airport or your hotel in Kigali. First, you will enjoy a brief tour of Kigali city and visit the historic Kigali Genocide Memorial. Afterward, you will drive north toward the Cyanika border. As you cross into Uganda, the spectacular Virunga Volcanoes will welcome you. Finally, you will arrive at your lodge near Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for dinner and a relaxing evening.

  • Day 2 : Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

    This day is the highlight of your safari. After an early breakfast, you will head straight to the park headquarters for a briefing. The park rangers will explain the safety guidelines before you enter the forest. Next, you will hike into the misty jungle to track the Nyakagezi gorilla family. The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on where the gorillas are located. Once you find them, you will spend 1 magical hour watching them play, feed, and rest. In the afternoon, you can rest at the lodge or take a guided nature walk.

  • Day 3 : Golden Monkey Tracking and Return to Kigali

    On your final day, you will experience another rare wildlife encounter. You will head back into the forest to track the playful golden monkeys, which live only in this volcanic region. These beautiful primates move quickly through the bamboo canopy, providing fantastic photo opportunities. After the trek, you will return to the lodge to pack your bags. Then, you will drive back across the border into Rwanda. Your guide will drop you off at the airport or your hotel in Kigali, concluding your amazing safari.
