Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On Day 1 of your 3-day gorilla trekking adventure, you will meet your driver-guide upon arrival at Kigali International Airport. You can also be picked up from your hotel in Kigali. After a brief introduction, you will begin your scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda.

Along the way, you will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial. This site was established to educate future generations about the tragic events of 1994 in Rwanda.

The journey takes about 4-5 hours, passing through picturesque landscapes, local villages, and lush hillsides. Enjoy the scenic beauty along the way as you head to your accommodation offering a comfortable and affordable stay near the park. After check-in, you can relax and prepare for the gorilla trekking the following day.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

On Day 2, you will wake up early for breakfast. You will then head to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park headquarters for a briefing. Park rangers will share important safety guidelines and trekking information.

After the briefing, you will be assigned to a trekking group. You will then enter the forest in search of the gorillas. The trek can take between 2 and 6 hours, depending on their location.

Once you find a gorilla family, you will spend one hour observing them in their natural habitat. After the trek, you will drive to Lake Bunyonyi. This is the deepest lake in Uganda and is known as the “place of little birds.”

Enjoy the beautiful scenery around the lake. Upon arrival, you will check in at your lodge.

Day 3: Morning Canoe Cruise and Return to Kigali

On the final day of your 3-day adventure, after breakfast, you will have a morning canoe cruise along Lake Bunyonyi which gives a chance to explore the islands on the lake and a thrilling experience at the lake after the cruise, check out of your lodge and begin the return drive to Kigali. The journey back provides more beautiful views of the Rwandan countryside. You will stop for lunch along the way and take a moment to soak in the peaceful surroundings. Arriving in Kigali by the late afternoon, your driver-guide will drop you off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your incredible gorilla trekking experience.
