Day 1 – Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Bwindi, Uganda

Your safari begins with pick-up from your hotel or Kigali International Airport by your driver-guide. After a short briefing, embark on a scenic drive through the rolling hills of Rwanda toward the Katuna border. Cross into Uganda and continue your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.

Enjoy breathtaking views of terraced highlands, local farms, and lush forests as you travel. Upon arrival, check in at Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge, where you’ll enjoy dinner and prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 2 – Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing by the rangers. Then begin your gorilla trekking expedition, hiking through dense forest terrain in search of one of the habituated mountain gorilla families.

Once located, you’ll have an unforgettable hour to observe these gentle giants up close—watching them feed, play, and interact in their natural environment. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, you may take an optional community visit to the Batwa Pygmies, experiencing their unique culture and traditional songs and dances.

Day 3 – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

After breakfast, cross back into Rwanda via the Cyanika Border and drive to Volcanoes National Park, home to Rwanda’s golden monkeys and famous for its stunning views of the Virunga Volcanoes.

Upon arrival, check in at Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge and spend the rest of the day at leisure. You can take a walk through Musanze town, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village (optional), or simply relax and enjoy the tranquil mountain surroundings.

Day 4 – Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer to Kigali

After an early breakfast, head to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for your golden monkey trekking experience. These rare primates are active and playful, often leaping between bamboo branches, making the trek lively and fun.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch before departing for Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you can enjoy a Kigali city tour, visiting the Genocide Memorial, local markets, or artisan shops before your transfer to Kigali International Airport for your outbound flight.
