Bwindi impenetrable National Park is a national park located in southern western part of Uganda, situated along the Democratic Republic of Congo [DRC] border next to Virunga National Park. In 1964, the park was designated as an animal sanctuary to provide extra protection for its mountain gorillas and continued to be managed as both a game sanctuary and forest reserve. The park is famous for its exceptional biodiversity, with more than 180 species of trees and over 120 species of ferns. The park is populated with about 500 individual mountain gorillas, the most special thing about these big apes are so closely related to humans.
How to get to Bwindi impenetrable National Park
Bwindi National park can be accessed from Kampala through Kabale district or travellers can access the park by air from Kampala international airport [Entebbe] to the tarmac airstrip found at Kisoro. This airstrip in Kisoro serves the town of Kabale, Kisoro and its nearby Bwindi impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park.
