Tips for Affordable Gorilla Trekking

2. Join Group Tours

• Group trekking can lower the cost per person. Many operators offer group packages, which are typically more affordable than private treks.

3. Book in Advance

• Gorilla trekking permits are limited and sell out quickly, especially during peak seasons. Booking early can help secure better prices and availability.

4. Consider Budget Accommodations

• Uganda:
  • Buhoma Community Rest Camp: Affordable lodging near the park.
  • Trekkers’ Tavern Lodge: Budget-friendly with good amenities.
• Rwanda:
  • Kinigi Guesthouse: Near Volcanoes National Park, offers basic accommodations.
  • Musanze Hotel: A mid-range option close to the park.

5. Explore Package Deals

• Some tour operators offer all-inclusive packages that include transport, accommodation, meals, and permits, often at a reduced rate compared to booking separately.

6. Self-Drive Options

• If you’re comfortable driving, consider renting a car to save on transport costs. This is more feasible in Uganda, where roads are generally accessible.
