Uganda is the pearl of Africa, with over 50 crater lakes dotting the terrain. The area is surrounded by three central forest reserves under the care of the National Forestry Authority [NFA]. In 1908, Winston Churchill, the former British Prime Minister, nicknamed Uganda the Pearl of Africa, where he wrote down a standard popular book called “My African Journey”

Gold is a significant mineral export and the mine was opened up at wagagai in Eastern part of Uganda. Other minerals in Uganda include cobalt, copper, tungsten, steel, tin, diamonds, salt, vermiculite, uranium, and graphite.
Oil and Gas
Buliisa district is one town with many oil wells as many as 70 oil wells and the district has also benefited development projects initiated by oil companies
Diverse wildlife
Uganda is a home to be “Big 7” lions, hippos, elephants, mountain gorillas, leopards, chimpanzee rhinos and also a home to 1,160 bird species.
Uganda has also got the best display of 10 national parks with Murchison falls national park the largest and Mgahinga gorilla national park the smallest park in Uganda.
Uganda’s History
Uganda’s history includes the establishment of the British protectorate in 1894 and gaining its independence from Britain in 1962. Britain began colonizing Uganda around 1860. In 1893, the British East Africa Company transferred administration rights to the British government.
In the modern history Yoweri Museveni has been the president of Uganda since 1986. Since then Uganda has experienced political stability, economic growth and infrastructure improvements.

Mt Everest the highest mountain in Uganda 29,029feet . The Rwenzori Mountains, known as the “Mountains of the Moon” snow-capped and considered one of the best hiking destinations in the world
Lakes and Rivers
Lake Victoria, Lake Edward and Lake Albert are African great lakes located in Uganda with Lake Victoria the largest lake in Africa. The source of Nile, the longest river in the world.
Savannahs
Uganda’s vast savannahs are home to diverse wide range of wildlife which include primates, lions, leopards and wild dogs.
Rainforests
Uganda has tropical rainforests but the most prominent tropical rainforest in Uganda is Mabira Forest. Mabira is considered as a significant natural treasure with diverse flora and fauna.
