4 Days Congo Gorilla Trekking & Nyiragongo Hike, Start/End: Kigali, Visiting Virunga National Park
Overview
This 4 Days Congo Gorilla Trekking is an exciting trip experience for tracking & meet the famous Mountain gorillas in the Virunga National Park. Enjoy seeing them feeding and making all day activities. This package will also bring you to the best view of the world’s largest lava Lake . Mt Nyiragongo which is an active volcano up to the high summit. Nyiragongo is beautiful strato volcano. The volcanoes forest lower slopes are home to variety of animals including chimpanzee, Monkeys and bush bucks.
Note: A maximum fitness required to conquer the altitude challenges as the climb begins at 1989m (6,525ft) and ascend to 3470m (11,382ft) in short time.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Lake Kivu Gisenyi, Boat ride and drive to Goma
In the morning you will be picked up by the driver/guide from the Airport on arrival or your Hotel after breakfast and transfer you to Gisenyi on the shores of Lake Kivu. On arrival, you will have lunch and later take a boat ride to tour around the lake.
Visit coffee island, Gas plant and Hot springs later you will cross over to Congo and proceed to Goma where you will spend the first Congo Gorilla Safari night.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla trekking in Virunga national park and community visit.
In the morning, you will have your breakfast thereafter report to Virunga National Park headquarters for the pre-trekking briefing about mountain gorillas. You will the set off to track the famous mountain gorillas together with your armed ranger guide who will search and interpret to you the gorilla behaviors.
The gorilla tracking time will depend on the movement of the entire team and the location of the gorillas themselves. Later in the evening you can visit nearby community to meet and interact with local people. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Day 2 Nyiragongo hike experience
On the third Congo Gorilla Safari day you will have breakfast early morning, then you guide will take you to the briefing at the hiking departure point at Kibati patrol post which is approximately 30 minutes’ drive from Goma and less than an hour from Mikeno lodge.
The hiking experience usually starts at 10:00AM and will take approximately 4-6 hours depending on the speed and strength of the participants in order to reach the summit of the volcano. You will then enjoy the views of the summit, have dinner and stay overnight at the Summit shelter Camp.
Day 4: Descend, cross to Gisenyi and drive back to Kigali.
In the morning you will descend back from the Volcano and continue to the border to crossover again to Rwanda. You will then proceed to Kigali where you will be dropped at the Airport for your departure or at your Hotel.
