Day 1: Transfer from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Gorilla and Chimpanzee Tracking and Wildlife Safari. Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel or Entebbe International Airport by an experienced English-speaking driver-guide from Abunda Discoveries Uganda. After a short safari briefing, depart for southwestern Uganda.

The scenic journey takes you through beautiful countryside, traditional villages, lush banana plantations, rolling hills, and the famous Equator crossing where you will have time for photographs and refreshments.

Continue through the spectacular Kigezi Highlands, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa,” before arriving in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park during the evening.

After checking in, relax while preparing for the unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure awaiting you the following morning.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Gorilla and Chimpanzee Tracking and Wildlife Safari. Wake up early for breakfast before heading to the Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters for a detailed briefing about mountain gorilla trekking.

Experienced park rangers will allocate your gorilla family and explain the trekking rules before entering the ancient rainforest.

The trek may take between 2 and 7 hours depending on the movement of the gorilla family. Along the way, enjoy sightings of colorful birds, butterflies, forest mammals, and unique vegetation.

The highlight comes when you finally encounter the gentle mountain gorillas. Spend one magical hour observing them as they feed, groom, play, and interact naturally.

After receiving your Gorilla Trekking Certificate, return to the lodge for lunch before transferring to the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi.

Known as one of Africa’s most scenic lakes, Lake Bunyonyi is surrounded by terraced hills and dotted with over 29 small islands, making it the perfect place to relax after trekking.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kyambura Gorge

Gorilla and Chimpanzee Tracking and Wildlife Safari. Enjoy an early breakfast before heading to Kyambura Gorge for one of Uganda’s most unique primate experiences.

Often referred to as the “Valley of Apes,” Kyambura Gorge is a lush tropical forest hidden beneath the surrounding savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Following a briefing from Uganda Wildlife Authority guides, descend into the forest in search of the habituated chimpanzee community.

Besides chimpanzees, you may also encounter black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons, forest birds, and beautiful butterflies.

After your memorable chimpanzee encounter, return to the lodge for lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing or enjoying the stunning scenery around the lodge.

Day 5: Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Gorilla and Chimpanzee Tracking and Wildlife Safari. Start the day with an early morning game drive across the Kasenyi Plains, one of Uganda’s richest wildlife viewing areas.

Look out for elephants, African buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, hyenas, giant forest hogs, and, with a little luck, lions and leopards before they retreat from the morning sun.

Return to the lodge for lunch before heading for the famous afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel.

This unforgettable cruise offers exceptional opportunities to observe large concentrations of hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and countless water birds gathering along the shoreline.
