Day 1: Transfer from Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park

Your journey begins early in the morning with a warm welcome from your professional driver-guide in Entebbe. You’ll embark on a scenic drive westward through Uganda’s rolling hills and tea plantations en route to Kibale Forest National Park, often referred to as the “Primate Capital of the World.”

The drive takes approximately 6–7 hours, with en-route stops for lunch and photographs. You’ll reach the forested landscape of Kibale by late afternoon and check in at Kibale Bweza Lodge, nestled near the park. Relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for your first encounter with Uganda’s great apes.

Accommodation: Kibale Bweza Lodge

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the Kanyanchu Visitor Center for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. Guided by expert trackers, you’ll venture into the forest to find one of the habituated chimpanzee families. Kibale is home to over 1,500 chimpanzees, and sightings are highly likely. Along the way, you may also see red colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and a variety of bird species.

After the trek, you’ll enjoy lunch and then continue south through the scenic Ishasha or Kabale route to reach Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the heart of Uganda’s gorilla trekking experience.

The drive can take between 5 to 6 hours, depending on the route. Upon arrival, check in at Rushaga Gorilla Lodge, located close to one of the main gorilla trekking trailheads.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

This day is the highlight of your safari. After an early breakfast, report to the Rushaga sector headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. You’ll be assigned to a gorilla group and led by experienced rangers deep into the forest. The trek can last from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements.

Once you locate the gorilla family, you’ll spend up to one hour observing and photographing them—a profound and life-changing wildlife encounter.

After your trek, return to the lodge for a short rest, then drive approximately 2–3 hours to the peaceful and scenic Lake Bunyonyi, often called “the Switzerland of Africa” for its terraced hills and serene waters. Check into your lodge and enjoy the evening by the lakeside.
