5 days Chimps and wildlife safari to Rwanda

This 5 days Chimps and wildlife safari to Rwanda will start and end in Kigali. In this safari, you will have to visit 2 national parks: Akagera National Park for wildlife and Nyungwe National Park for chimpanzee tracking.

Day 1, Transfer to Akagera National Park

Upon arrival at the International Airport in Kigali, you will be met and welcomed by our company representative. After the interaction, you will transfer to Akagera National Park. Upon arrival, have lunch and in the afternoon go for a boat ride on Lake Ihema to search for different water loving animals like Hippos, out-sized crocodiles and water birds like the papyrus Gonolek, shoebill stork and African fish eagle. Dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge/ Umbrella Pine/Dereva Hotel

Day 2, Game drive and transfer back to Kigali

After a morning breakfast, you will set out for the game drive to search for early risers and predators such as Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Hyenas, impala, oribi, bushbuck, antelope, zebra, cape eland, giraffe and so many others. Return back to the Lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, transfer back to Kigali for dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Okapi/Hotel Chezlando/Kigali Serena Hotel/Hotel Des Milles Collins

Day 3, Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

After breakfast, you will depart for Nyungwe Forest National Park. En route to the Park, visit historical and cultural sites in Butare and Nyanza. You will visit the National Museum and the National University in Butare. You will also visit the Old King’s Palace (Old Mwami’s palace) in Nyanza for a cultural interaction. Have lunch in Butare and proceed with your journey reaching in Nyanza in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Gisakura guest House/Nyungwe Forest Lodge

Day 4, Chimpanzee trek in Nyungwe

After breakfast, you will set out for the chimp trek in this rain forest. You will first report to the Park headquarters for briefing from the Park rangers and then start your trek into the Forest in search for the chimpanzees. You will have the opportunity to see Chimpanzees and other primates like the Rwenzori colobus, L’hoests monkey, the Silver monkey, Owl faced monkey and the Grey cheeked Mangabey and so on. Return for dinner and overnight stay at ORTPN Gisakura guest house/Nyungwe Forest Lodge.

Day 5, Transfer back to Kigali

After breakfast, you will transfer back to Kigali with lunch en route in Butare. Also visit the Botanical gardens and then later proceed to Kigali city for either dinner and overnight stay or be transferred to the Airport for your flight back home
