Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes national park.
Day 1 of your 16-day Rwanda Uganda safari will begin when you land at Kigali International Airport, where a company representative will meet you and drive you to a city tour where you will see some memorial sites for the genocide, a market centre, and craft stores, among other places. After city tour, have your lunch and be driven to Volcanoes national park for dinner and overnight sleep awaiting the next day’s fascinating activity.
Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking in volcanoes national park.
After breakfast on day 2 of 16 days Uganda Rwanda safari wear your tracking attire and pack all other gears that you might need during gorilla trekking and head to the park headquarters for a pre gorilla trekking briefing that will introduce you theoretic to gorillas, their behaviors, the dos and don’ts during trekking and many more. After a briefing, you will be taken into the forest to begin your exciting journey of locating critically endangered mountain gorillas in their natural settings. Keep in mind that gorillas are always on motion searching for food thus you will need to endure the walk till they finally settle allowing to spend only one hour in their presence taking photographs and interacting with them closely. Exit the forest back to your lodge for a relaxed evening or have a walk to the twin lakes of Burela and Ruhondo.
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes national park.
On the third day of your 16-day safari in Rwanda and Uganda, start your day early and get ready for another exciting adventure: trekking with the rare and exciting golden monkeys that can only be found in bamboo forests. A briefing precedes golden monkey trekking, after which you will be guided into the bamboo jungle to look for them. It’s wonderful to go on a trek with golden monkeys because you may witness them leaping and approaching. After you’ve had an hour to snap as many pictures as you can in their natural habitat, return to the lodge for lunch after leaving the forest.
Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park.
Wake up early in the morning be serves with breakfast, check out meet your safari guide and depart to Bwindi, you will be driven to Bwindi, an impenetrable national park located in the southwest of the country. The greatest population of critically endangered mountain gorillas in the world can be found in the park. It’s also in Bwindi that both gorilla trekking and gorilla habituation experience are conducted as other parks like national park Volcanoes national park and Virunga national park only conduct gorilla trekking. Lunch will be enroute while dinner will be at the lodge.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park.
Meet your safari driver for a transfer to the briefing point where rangers while taking you through a briefing about mountain gorillas in Bwindi impenetrable national park what are the dos and don’ts during the trek and many more. Hire a porter and follow the rangers deep into the forest to look for these apes as they forage for food after receiving a training. After only an hour in their company, you will depart and head back to your lodge. If you need something else to do later in the evening, you can visit the batwa for an evening batwa experience. And after you will come to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 6: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.
Afterward, check out and head straight to Lake Bunyonyj, home to a variety of small birds. Despite being the deepest freshwater lake free of crocodiles and bilharzia, swimmers are constantly advised against Lake Bunyonyi because of its depth. After arriving, you’ll eat lunch and then go for a boat or canoe excursion on Lake Bunyonyj in the evening after for your dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park.
On the seventh day of your 16-day Rwanda Uganda safari, after breakfast, take a stroll along the banks of Lake Bunyonyj, where you may see a variety of species, including raptors, water birds, and forest birds. After checking out and having lunch back at the lodge, head to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of the stunning savanna parks in western Uganda. Upon your arrival check in your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Morning Game drive and afternoon boat cruise.
Wake up early in the morning and be served with a hearty breakfast, after breakfast, you will be picked up by your safari guide and head to Kasenyi Plains for a morning game drive, where you’ll take an exhilarating game drive through a savanna home to a variety of wildlife. Look out for elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, Uganda kobs and many other attractions in this part of the park. After your morning game drive, have lunch at the lodge before setting off on a boat ride down the Kazinga Channel in the afternoon to see hippos, elephants, crocodiles, and a variety of other exciting wildlife that calls this body of water home. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight sleep.
Day 9: Game drive in Ishasha sector, visit crater lakes and salt mines.
On the ninth day of your 16-day Rwandan-Uganda safari, pack a lunchbox and head to the Ishasha sector for your final wildlife drive in the area that is home to the lions that climb trees. These tree climbing lions are as well found in Lake Manyara national park in Tanzania. After your wildlife drive, stop at the salt mines and crater lakes for a picnic lunch. Later you will go back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 10: Transfer to Kibale forest national park and trek chimpanzees.
On day 10 of your 16-day Rwanda-Uganda safari, as soon as you complete breakfast, check out of the lodge and head for Kibale Forest National Park, which is home to 13 different primate species, which is three hours away by car. After arriving, you will pack your trekking gear in preparation for an afternoon chimpanzee trekking experience and check into your lodge for lunch. The trek starts with briefing at Kanyanchu visitor’s’ center after which you will penetrate the forest to search for these primates in their natural habitats. You will spend only one hour in their presence taking photographs and interacting with these gentle primates. Exit the forest and head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 11: Transfer to Semliki and visit Sempaya hot springs.
On the eleventh day of your 16-day Rwanda Uganda safari, after breakfast, head to Sempaya hot springs with your driver. There, you’ll explore the hot springs and get the opportunity to experience something truly transformative: cooking plantains or eggs. Return to your lodge in time for dinner and overnight sleep.
Day 12: Guided nature walk.
On the twelfth day of your 16-day Rwanda-Uganda safari, after breakfast, join the local guides for a guided forest walk through the Semuliki National Park. The walk will take you along trails that are clearly marked and will encounter many sights, including primates, as the park is home to a variety of primate species. After the forest walk, enjoy your lunch and be driven to fortpotal to visit Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru caves and king palace. Return to your lodge in time for dinner and overnight sleep as above.
Day 13: Transfer to Kampala for city tour.
After a leisurely breakfast on day 14 of your 16-day Rwanda Uganda safari, check out of your accommodation and head to Kampala, the capital of Uganda, making a stop at the Nakayima tree, which is extremely important to the Buganda monarchy. Lunch will be enroute and upon arrival in Kampala, you will enjoy a city tour before retiring to your hotel for dinner and overnight sleep.
Day 14: Transfer to Jinja and visit source of the Nile.
Day 14 of the 16-day Rwanda Uganda safari begins with breakfast. Check out of your lodge and meet your driver for the drive to Jinja, stopping along the way at Sezibwa Falls and Mabira Forest. After lunch when you get to Jinja, take a boat journey in the afternoon to see the source of the Nile River. After seeing the Nile’s source, take a city tour of Jinja and end the day by spending the night there.
Day 15: White water rafting and transfer to Entebbe.
On day 15 of your 16-day Rwanda-Uganda safari, start the day with breakfast before going on a half-day white-water rafting excursion near the Itanda waterfall along the Nile River. The most popular tourist activity in Jinja is white water rafting. After rafting the waters up to grade 5 wave, return to the lodge for lunch then check out and be driven to Entebbe where you will enjoy your dinner and spend an overnight.
Day 16: Departures.
Rwanda Uganda safari is set aside for departures thus depending on the time of your flight, you will enjoy a relaxed breakfast memorizing all that you saw throughout the previous 15 days then check out of the lodge for a drive to Entebbe international airport for a flight to the next destination as per your travel plan.
